    This program of American music is a combination of old favorites and brand new pieces. Barber’s Reincarnations was last on an NAS program in 2008, sung by Chamber Chorus, who will sing it again. NAS first sang Copland’s In the Beginning in 1980 when we put together an all-Copland 80th Birthday Celebration, attended by the composer. Since it is a great work and a choral showpiece, we have programmed it periodically over the decades and look forward to performing it…

    This concert features the world premiere of the New Amsterdam Singers commission I Go Among Trees by Robert Paterson, with guest marimbist Makoto Nakura. Plus, we’ll present the New York premiere of We Will Stand Up by Karen Siegel. Inspired by the youth plaintiffs demanding a stable climate in Juliana vs. United States, the work was commissioned by a 10-choir consortium. Tickets will go on sale October 15, 2021.
