Committed to Excellence. Defined by Creativity.
Clara Longstreth writes of this program, “I have never received rapturous praise from singers and audiences alike equal to what has been true for Frank Martin’s Mass for Double Chorus. We sang it in 1990 as the main piece on an all-Martin Centennial Concert, and again in 2008. We now return to this masterpiece in 2019. Almost everything else on the program is new to NAS, although several are new pieces by well-known composers whose music we love.”
The women will sing a lively 2002 work by Arvo Pärt and a lovely one by György Orban. The men will sing a cycle of carols by Halsey Stevens we last performed in 1991. Chamber chorus will sing expressive works by Sisask, Colin Mawby, Ešenwalds, and Petersson.
