Our 2019-2020 season features three programs (December, March and May) that include a broad array of music from the magnificent Mass for Double Chorus by Frank Martin to a newly commissioned work by Robert Paterson for chorus and marimba. Other composers this year include Aaron Copland, Arvo Pärt, Irving Fine, and many others.
A Century of A Cappella Gems
“Eloquent, intimate and intensely personal” is how Music Director Clara Longstreth describes Frank Martin’s choral masterpiece, “Mass for Double Chorus.” This inventive work has been a favorite of NAS singers and audiences for thirty years. Also on the program: works by Arvo Pärt, György Orban, Halsey Stevens, and others.

Through the Seasons
We are thrilled to commission a new work by Robert Paterson as part of our ongoing celebration of our Fiftieth Anniversary and our commitment to new music. Paterson’s work is steeped in our relationship with nature and features the poetry of Wendell Berry and others, with marimba accompaniment. Also on the program: lively works by Benjamin Britten, E.J. Moeran, and Vincent Persichetti.
