American Journey Poetry and Song in the Twentieth Century
In 1993 New Amsterdam Singers released its first CD, American Journey Poetry and Song in the Twentieth Century. The recording served to celebrate both 20th Century American music, and the 25th anniversary of New Amsterdam Singers.
Elliott Hurwitt of Fanfare Magazine picked American Journey as one of his top five CD choices in 1994. "American Journey won a very special place in my esteem... I strongly urge that you go out and buy this disc."
The recording features the music of Samuel Barber, Henry Brant, Irving Fine, Matthew Harris, Alan Hovhaness, Ronald Perera, Halsey Stevens, and Randall Thompson.
American Journey is available for purchase at all New Amsterdam Singers concerts, by special order at many record stores, as well as by contacting the chorus directly. In addition, selected recordings of New Amsterdam Singers live performances are also available at concerts.
